Entrance Hall
The building (newly constructed in 1900 and renovated in 1935), which had been used as a book storeroom of the Hosa Library until 1983, is now being reused as the entrance hall.
Replicas of our representative collection items such as Kawachi-bon Genji Monogatari (copies of the Tale of Genji, Kawachi-bon Version) are exhibited. Also, on the second floor, an old book storeroom is reproduced and books bound in Japanese style are stored there; this can be viewed from the first floor.
Theater, "Sennen-no Toki wo Koete (Traversing Over One Thousand Years)"
The attraction of the "Tale of Genji," which has been continuously read for over one thousand years, is introduced in high-definition video (11 minutes) with a narration by actress Keiko Takeshita.

Visitors can freely read the reference books in the bookstacks (15,000 copies) in the reference room and also ask for other reference items, held in the storeroom, through a computer search/reading system.
